2025 GCGA Metropolitan Senior Women’s Amateur at Clovernook Country Club—A Real Nailbiter!

by Donna Drury-Heine

Well, I don’t have beautiful nails, but by the end of round #2 of the GCGA Metropolitan Senior Women’s Amateur, I wish I had a golf glove to wear for both hands.  The Women of GCWGA and GCGA Cincinnati were “AWESOME” to watch play and compete!  It was exciting to watch and inspirational.  These women got game!

In an exciting 3-hole playoff, Lynn Thompson from O’Bannon Creek Golf Club won the Greater Cincinnati Golf Association’s 110th Metropolitan Senior Women’s Amateur Championship over Carolyn Mindel from Little Miami Golf Center and Laura Deters from Clovernook Country Club.

All three players finished the 36-hole event at 156. Mindel earned the runner-up position.

In the Net competition, Deters, Young Romero from Ohio Valley Golf Club, and Leslie Huesman from Clovernook Country Club won their respective flights.

Clare Yeazell, a golfer from Tri-County Golf Ranch and Bowling Green State University, clinched the title with a total score of 215. She edged out Eleanor Hudepohl of O’Bannon Creek Golf Club by two strokes. The final round was intense, with Yeazell overcoming a triple bogey on the 17th hole and securing victory with a birdie on the 18th.
