A Letter to Our 18 Hole League Member Chairs or Members Responsible for Foundation Day(s) Event:

The GCWGA Board, Tournament Chairs, Scholarship Foundation Committee, and the Long Range Planning Committee (LRP) are very excited about the 18th year of our annual SHE (Scholarship for Higher Education) Championship Tournament to be held on September 8th, 2025, at Blue Ash Golf Course. 

Once again, we are asking EVERY GCWGA member club to participate by hosting a ‘low net’ qualifying event, such as Foundation Day, this season. This event helps fund the GCWGA Scholarship Foundation.

The mission of this foundation is to provide one-time awards to female high school seniors who meet a specific set of qualifications and are selected based on academic achievement, excellence of character, and involvement in the sport of golf.

The four ‘low net’ qualifiers from your Foundation Day Event will have earned the right to play as a team and represent your Club at the GCWGA’s SHE Championship Tournament.

We need your help to make this fundraiser another big success. Please ensure you announce this as a special event at your opening day meeting and display the poster in a prominent location where everyone can see it. As the date for your event approaches, be sure to talk about it again and let people know that it’s a fun way to help promote this great Scholarship Fund. Encourage everyone to sign up.

Special Note: You might also mention that the donation for this event is $10.00, which is a tax-deductible donation to the GCWGA Scholarship Foundation. If anyone wants to increase their donation, the GCWGA Scholarship Foundation Board would be delighted by the additional generosity.

Below are the timeline and key activities in preparation for the SHE Tournament:

• Each Club is to hold an annual low-net qualifying event. It probably works best to keep your event on a regular league day. However, in the past, some clubs held their event over more than one day to allow more members to be involved. This decision is entirely up to each Club.
• Please let us know your Foundation Day Event date by June 1st, 2025. Send an e-mail to Robin Kofler at robin.kofler@yahoo.com
• Each participant will contribute $10.00 (or more) to the Scholarship Fund, which you, the Golf Chair or your Events Chair, will collect and forward along with the names of each donor and their amount given to Robin Kofler: 24 Muirfield Lane Blue Ash, OH  45241       
• The four low-net winners from each Club will become a team and play in the overall SHE championship at Blue Ash Golf Course on Monday, September 8th, 2025. We will have a shotgun start at 10:00 a.m. and have a cookout immediately following the play—the winning team announcement will be during this time. NOTE:  If it rains on the 8th, Blue Ash will provide alternate dates as soon as possible.
• The winning team of this Tournament (2-best ball net) will receive the SHE Championship traveling trophy, which your Club will proudly display during 2025/2026. Second and third-place teams will also be recognized.
• Each participant in the SHE Championship on September 8th will pay $85.00. This fee covers the greens fee, cart, cookout, and a $5.00 contribution to the Scholarship Fund.

Each Club is free to do something to encourage participation in this league-day event. This decision will be up to your league or Pro; i.e., some clubs may pay the individual entry fee (or part of it) from league monies since you would probably not have other individual prizes that day. The total for the foursome is $340.00.

Since we want all clubs to participate in the SHE Championship on September 8th, 2025, we encourage you to promote your Foundation Day Event(s) and have a low net qualifying event during a week where you will have full participation from your members.

Please keep records of all participants. If any of the low four cannot play on September 8th, you would take the next lowest qualifier of those who played in the Foundation Days.

Thanks for your help in getting full participation from your league membership. The SHE Tournament is a fantastic event that allows players to enjoy competing as a team while playing for a worthwhile cause – our young women who will one day take our places in this great organization. Please help us succeed both now and in the future.
