Things to consider if you want to play Spring or Fall Team!
- Spring and Fall Team is competitive golf. Make sure you like to play match play in a competitive environment before you sign up.
- Know the rules of golf. Even pros don’t know them all, but have your rule book with you, in case you simply don’t know. There are some differences between match play and stroke play.
- Pace of play—ready golf. If you are a slow player, then this might not be for you. If you are out of the hole, pick up. If you win the hole, get to the next tee, you are UP. Know stalling. Stay up with the group in front of you. If you lose a ball, you have 3 minutes to find it, not 10. If it potentially out of bounds or in the woods, hit a provisional. Remember, if you are in a hazard, a provisional is not acceptable, but you can choose to hit another off the tee and take that ball without looking.
- When you get to the green, you and your partner should know how many strokes you are lying. It is customary to ask, “What is everyone lying about?” Don’t take offense if someone on the other team questions your number, we all can miscount.
